I am running XP Pro 32-bit. I want to replace the Video Card. Nothing great or expensive...just a decent one. It for a friend (senior, that is why XP). I just got him a Dell Vostro 200 slim, added a 1TB HD and installed all drivers and XP. Please let me know 3 things:
1. Does ddr2 or ddr3 matter on the video card..is one better to run on XP
2. 64-bit or 32-bit. I assume 64 will run on 32-bit XP
3. Any suggestions on the card or where to buy (PCI Express 2.0X16)

No, ddr2 and ddr3 are not compatible because there's a slot on the pins that are in different areas. You won't be able to fit ddr3 memory in a ddr2 mobo. For that specific mobo, the specs looks like it will only take ddr3, whether it would be ECC or non-ECC. You won't be able to fit your old ddr2 memory in there. A DDR3 memory won't fit at all in the slot for DDR2 memory. The same holds true if you want to add DDR2 memory to a DDR3 slot. However, they did build a few motherboards that you could either use DDR3 or DDR2 on the board. These boards gave you the choose what memory you want to use. Current motherboards use either DDR2 or DDR3. The slots for the memory types are different and you must use the required type for the motherboard. In practice, memory speed is not usually a limiting factor and it is more important to have enough memory.
